Revolution 1989

The image of the truck featured on the postage stamp became an emblematic symbol of the 1989 Romanian Revolution, widely circulated in newspapers and magazines. Depicted emerging from the mist like a ship at sea, the truck—crowded with jubilant people waving Romanian flags—captures a powerful moment of collective uprising. Rather than memorialising this event through grand historical paintings, László revisits it through the intimate, everyday format of a postage stamp. Stamps, inherently linked to personal stories and shared memories, travel hand-to-hand via handwritten letters, reinforcing the idea of history as something lived and exchanged on a personal scale.
