Cart, 2013
Cart is a live project that expands on the idea of the ready-made. A Romanian cart maker was commissioned to produce the cart which was then transported for an exhibition in Berlin (2009). In 2010, after the exhibition, the cart was sold - not to a collector or institution, but instead, to a Romanian farmer. In 2013, Istvan visited both the owner and the cart to observe and document the changes that the object had undergone. Since then, the Cart was sold to a second owner and continues not only to fulfil a purpose as a utilitarian object but also to function as an active sculpture waiting to expose its transformations.
